Overview

lingaga helps multilingual people maintain the languages they already speak, partly speak, or used to speak. We collect only the information needed to provide the service, improve it, keep accounts secure, and communicate with people who ask to hear from us.

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Early-access signup email addresses submitted on the website.
• Account information such as email address and password when email authentication is used.
• Profile details such as display name, preferred UI locale, timezone, and onboarding progress.
• Selected languages, language roles, proficiency levels, and primary language preferences.
• Translation history, including source text, source language, translated values, timestamps, and favorites.
• Settings such as daily goals, reminder preferences, reminder time, week start day, marketing choices, and analytics choices.
• Feedback, support requests, or other communications you send to us.

Information collected automatically

• Basic browser, device, and usage information from the public website.
• Essential account lifecycle and technical records needed to operate, secure, debug, and monitor the service. These can include events such as account creation, onboarding completion, and account sync results, together with limited context such as platform and app version.
• Optional product analytics only when you explicitly enable analytics in the app. We do not include your email address, display name, translation text, or individual language choices in optional analytics events.

How we use information

• To provide translation, vocabulary history, favorites, and language maintenance features.
• To create and manage accounts, profiles, onboarding, selected languages, and settings.
• To sync vocabulary history and preferences for signed-in users.
• To send early-access updates or account-related communications.
• To support reminders, notification settings, and progress summaries.
• To understand usage, diagnose reliability issues, improve lingaga, and prevent abuse.
• To verify that account creation and account data synchronization complete successfully.
• To respond to support, privacy, accessibility, or deletion requests.

Information sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in limited situations:

• With service providers that help run lingaga, such as hosting, authentication, storage, analytics, and app platform services.
• When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of lingaga or its users.
• As aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you.

Third-party services

lingaga may use or integrate with third-party services, including:

• Supabase: Authentication, database storage, and backend services.
• Google Analytics: Website usage analytics on pages where it is enabled.
• Google Fonts: Web font loading for the public website.
• Apple platform services: Native iOS functionality such as translation availability, notifications, and accessibility features.
• Hetzner and Coolify: Website and backend hosting.

Your use of integrated third-party services may also be subject to their own privacy policies and terms.

If lingaga introduces an optional third-party product analytics service, such as Mixpanel, it will remain disabled unless you explicitly enable analytics in the app. We will also update this policy before sending optional analytics to that service.

Translation content

Words and phrases you translate can become part of your vocabulary history. Be mindful about entering highly sensitive information. lingaga is intended for everyday language maintenance, not for storing secrets, legal documents, medical records, or other highly sensitive content.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including authenticated access and database row-level protections for user-owned data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security.

Your choices and rights

• You can edit your name, selected languages, appearance, reminders, and notification settings in the app where available.
• You can mark vocabulary items as favorites or delete history items where available.
• You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal data by contacting us.
• You can control notification permissions through your device settings.
• You can enable or disable optional product analytics in the app. Turning it off stops future optional analytics collection; essential security and account reliability records are still created.
• You can manage browser cookies and storage through your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide lingaga, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and operate the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data.

Children's privacy

lingaga is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Updates to this policy

We may update this policy as lingaga changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
